Hi, I’m Andy Giger.
Throughout my varied career in science, communication, management and consulting, I have been exploring visual perception and expressions, often developing computer simulations and visualisations in the process. (See my website archive for some interactive examples.)
As an artist, I can use many of these applications as starting points for my development of new visual concepts. I write my own digital tools to help me create my art, which tends to end up as digital prints but occasionally gets translated to physical paintings.
drandanArt – Surface Pattern Design
I designed my first repeat patterns way back in the 1980s, creating small wallpaper tiles for my Macintosh II. A few years later I designed a lot of seamlessly repeating backgrounds for the stereograms I was developing back then. Today, I am revisiting the joys of pattern design, discovering new ways to fill an area with pleasing visuals.
reFocused – Andy's Newsletter
I write about my process and the thinking behind some of my artworks, as well as the life and work of a refocused creative.
